XR400 04 oil pump drive

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I've just started putting my XR back together for a rebuild, decided to go to a 88mm (426xx) piston at 10:1

I had to remove the crankcase so that i could fit a new timing chain while im there.

Everything seemed to come apart and go back together fine, although i noticed when i put the crankcase back on that the oil pump drive gear was quite loose, i pulled the case back off for a closer look, it seems like it has no washer, the gear just locates on the shaft, and is held on by the crankcase.

Is this correct or am i missing a part?

Also my other concern, the spring which returns the kickstart gear, does that just locate against the crankcase wall on the left side?

Should have taken more care pulling it apart...
