Battery Tender "Junior" or "Plus" ?

Recommended Posts

Battery Tender has 2 units for 12v motorcycle batteries:

The Junior, which is 0.75amp ($40)

and the Plus, which is 1.25amp ($65)

Can anyone tell me if the extra $25 is worth the extra half-amp?

I'm not sure which one I need, I have an 08 SM and just bought a new battery this past spring and don't want it to go bad over the winter, so I'm thinking I should put the battery on a Batter Tender to keep it fresh until the spring.

any help or input is appreciated.... thanks

Get the Plus at Amazon -- only $41.99. Comes with a quick connect harness -- install it on your battery, plug the tender into the nearest outlet and then plug the two SAE connectors together.

I've had both Deltran battery tenders and prefer the Plus, as it charges sooner than the Junior.

+1:thumbsup:

I use the optimate 3.

It limits it bulk charging rate to 0.6 amps max which is more or less 10% of the DRZ batteries capacity - that is a good safe charge rate, or 14.3 volts

Trickle charge is a lot less than that.

I received a magazine from Cycle Gear that shows the Battery Tender Junior on sale Nov. 28th only for $19.99 Great buy. I have 2 of them so I tossed the magazine but I think it was thru cyclegear.com but may be in their local stores as well.
