White corrosion on Ti exhaust valve

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone, I'm inspecting and rebuilding the top end on my 2009 250f. When I got to look at the valves I noticed white corrosion has built up on the exhaust valves only. It appears to be pretty tough and doesn't easily come off. Is this normal? They are pro circuit valves that have 40 hours. Thanks for the help.

That is just normal carbon deposit. The lighter color is probably caused by high temp from slightly lean running engine.

There was a cleaning tip on TWMX a while ago on cleaning the valves, but I thought it was kind of tough on the coating on the valve. Or maybe the coating can take it, I don´t know.

Pulled my 09 250F for the second time after 70 hours on the top end and the valves also had a white deposit... Its nothing to worry about, possible lean mixture.
