2004 rmz 250 reliability

Recommended Posts

can a rmz 250 be reliable with some work...i found a 2004 on craigslist and it seems to be a really nice bike but i know they are known for bad valve problems.. im willing to put some work in it to make it right but i dont want to put too much into it....the bike is 1500 and runs good right now.

Try to give you the short version here. Yes, the 04 can be a reliable bike. With mods.

- Bigger radiators.

- Valves (stock) are a problem. Stainless steel seem to hold up better.

- Replace stock water pump with two piece water pump.

I believe that covers the "major" issues the 04-05 had. I have a 05. No complaints. Bike has and still runs well. All depends on the owner. Good luck with your decision.

decision has been made and its now in my garage....it has a boysen water pump and a few other things....needs a few things as well.... tires first thing, handle bars have a slight bend and one of the hand gaurds is broken...ill clean it up and change all the plastics and add a new graphics it..thing i like the most is it sits a little lower than my old bike and feels lighter...
