KTM PDS Lowering Spring Rate and Race Sag

Recommended Posts

03 200 SX setting up for new rider. Had shock valved more toward Enduro type riding. Current rear spring is a 7.6 Bike feels fair to me at speed but for new rider at slower pace in rocks, roots etc. it is a bit harsh and perhaps stiff for his liking. I am able to get the sag at 115-120 ish with about 3 to 4mm preload on the spring. I am considering a 7.2 rear spring to soften things up a bit.

According to the spring charts and sag you have the correct spring if sag is achieved in the range of 3 to 6 mm of preload. What will the effect be going to a 7.2 spring? Will it soften it too much for a 175lb rider? I just need to get the rear softened up until he gets faster.

I currently have the compression clicker backed all the way out and a lot of rebound damping but it still feels too stiff at lower pace in rocky and shelf covered uphills.
