450 EXC shock squeaks

I think it is actually the heim joint... This is a 2003 model, I am not sure if they are teflon or what, or if it is possible to just lubricate it? It squeaks when the shock goes up and down. I don't know if this is normal or not, but squeaking to me says "lubricate me". What should I do? Thanks!

Check the brake spring to make sure it isn't rubbing on the swing arm. Got me once.

Also check to see if the shock spring is rubbing on the airbox.

Likely just the Hiem joint but you should send that shock out for a service anyway if it has never been done.

Most likely the lower heim joint. It is press fitted into the swing arm. Do you have any up and down play in the swing arm when the bike is on a stand? The seals go bad and corrosion kills the bearing. The replacement kit is about $60 which includes the bearing, both seals and new bushings.

I replaced mine with a plastic bearing but I had to do a bit of re-engineering to make it work. I thought about trying to market it on this forum but don't know if I could do it for a cost effective price. It's lasted 3500 miles so far and still looks good.
