yz250f fork question

Recommended Posts

I have a 2007 yz250f. I had to change a fork seal and I found that the inner cartridge was different from the other. One seemed tight like it should be and the other - the spring seemed to have some play in it. I am not sure what the name is so in included a picture - it is the part circled in blue.

Can you help me with the name of the item?

Can I buy this aftermarket?

thanks for any help and guidance.

That is the compression valve assembly. There is a floating piston under the spring. A small gap between the spring and piston is normal. The piston will move with some resistance, enough to stop the spring from rattling but when everything is assembled the fluid keeps the piston tight against the spring. That part is available from Yamaha part number 5XC-2316A-R0-00 MSRP is $245.11 but you should be able to find it online for around $180.00 if you think yours is damaged.
