Pennsylvania Thumpertalk Northeasterners ride day down south?TT

Recommended Posts

I know its early and the weather is great in the NE right now, but lets get a posse together to go down south? either a 3 day weekend or a 8 day trip. Doesn't matter to me. Personally, I'd like to meet a couple of other Thumpertalkers from here!

NCMP is good, and well as 5 Points, Wide Open, JMP, and the new Jimmy Weineert's place, formally called Crystal Coast. We could even stop at some track in Va if the weather is good. I have been to many tracks in NC, and all of the above are first rate. They all reside along the coast or near the coast, so the weather isn't to bad. NCMP is a little farther inland, but it is OK too.

I'm an old guy with a son who is 13, so no beer parties/bar scenes or stripper clubs on this adventure. Just want to ride. How about late January or Mid February during the kids winter break?

Farthest one would be Weinert's new place. His old place at South of the Border is no longer under his management, so I don't know about going there. Last year it was good, but I think I'll pass on it this year.

I've been tossing some ideas around and lots of my friends are interested. Last year I did a few weekend trips, this year I'd like to do those again, plus a week-long type trip. I was thinking mid-to-late February could be cool since it's just before the season up here starts, but working it around when kids have off might be good since at least 1 kid would be going...

Please keep the info hwy. open here. My son & I usually go down in Feb. do the LL area qualifier, then head to Durhamtown Plantation in Ga. for the week, ending the trip at the Georgia Dome to watch the SX

Myself and some buddies hit Crystal Coast up in '10 during February break. We couldn't all get the schedules together to do it this year, but now that it's going reopening we are talking about trying again in February. Hopefully the work schedules allow it.

This new place, called Hog Heave, around Goldsboro NC, right off 95, looks promising. Someone sent me some pictures from there and they also had a blast last weekend. This is on my list to check out soon, like over Christmas break.

Even looks kid friendly, for those with kids. So any one want to go down for like 2 days with us? Let me know. iIf it is as good as my report, we may not travel the 1.5-2 hours extra to Crystal Coast in February. This way in Feb, we have like 5 tracks all within an hour of each other. And 5 Points will turn on the lights if we have like 5 guys to ride at night!!!

I'm hoping to do something over New Year's weekend. It depends on what I can talk other people into...

Went to Hog Heaven MX to check it out for Feb, and I can tell you it is FIRST RATE. Lot of buzz about this place. Even the people who run South of the Border were there, and it was sweet! All weather sand based track, and clay for big jumps, so the jumps don't deteriorate to nothing.

Also went to TNT in SC. Good place, but unfortunately it is too far away from the eastern part of NC were all the other tracks are. Still, it is a good place to ride, but it won't have the hardcore mx/offroad crowd that most are looking for.
