94 XR250R Oil on Stator side cover

Recommended Posts

I got T-boned riding in Cal City last weekend, it cracked the left side cover on my 94 XR250R. (not mentioning the 8 hours I spent in the ER) I noticed a bunch of oil leaked out of the left side stator cover. But then stopped. When I try to kick start it, oil comes out the crack. I'm going to buy another cover, but is there supposed to be oil on this (left) side? I thought that was the altenator and stuff in there, not oil. ???? or is it both? or do I have some other problem now.

Thanks

OK thanks. Is it free flowing from other side? Do I need to drain the engine oil to remove the stator cover, or is there just a little in there?

you need to drain the oil or lay the bike on its right side.

if you're close to orange I should have a stator cover hanging around my garage I'll let go cheap

I'm in Ventura county. Thousand Oaks. See if you have one, I could pay shipping if needed.
