Cylinder head gasket O-rings?

Recommended Posts

The 2 rubber orings on cylinder owner manual says to put a lithium soap based grease on orings. I have some K&N filter grease it says high temp grease can I use that or should I just get the Lithium. Or is there something better than the 2.Thanks.

I use like any high temp grease. I i personally used like two.stroke oil to coat the orings but it worked perfect for me. And I never had a problem.

Just my two cents

Thanks and god bless

Alex

For tricky o-rings I like to use petroleum gelly (vaseline).

Make absolutely sure that you keep the rings away from Carb and brake cleaner. Try it for fun sometime but not with rings you intend on installing on the bike.

+1 on the brake cleaner. The cleaner will caust orings and seals to swell and they may not seal properly. But i agree with the vaseline i was going to say that but i couldnt remember the name

Another vote for vasoline...and it works well. the only thing the "lube" is used for is to help them seat correctly avoiding pinches and to keep them from drying out. Mine arent in the motor long enough to dry out so thats not an issue.
