CR 85R assembly help!!!

Recommended Posts

Well, we just put a new crank/rod assembly in an 85 and when we tighten the case down, it won't shift. We are at a complete loss why this is happening.

DETAILS.

2003 CR85R had rod bearing go bad, so a new crank kit went into it.

We didn't have to remove the gears, or shift drum.

When the case halves are put back together, it shifts.

When we tighten the bolts....barely...it won't shift.

What did we miss?

Thanks.

more than likely the case dowels are missing. either that or the shift forks need aligned.

try with a rubber mallet on the tranny shaft see if it loosens it up.

something in the trans is bound up when you tightened the cases. it sucks, but youll have to re-split the cases, check things out and put them back together. being careful not to crack the cases.

and as you assemble the cases, be sure to rotate the shafts. torque it evenly around.
