Clip Masterlink with X-Ring Chain?

Recommended Posts

Can I run a standard clip masterlink with an X-Ring Chain? This chain is thinner, so I am guessing it needs a special link. I don't feel like spending $50-100 on a special chain riveting tool.

Also, I have a 2005 CRF450. Will this bike fit a standard O-ring chain without rubbing? How would I check, short of buying a chain and fitting it on the bike? I have heard of people running a counter shaft shim to fit the wider chain. Is this a good option.

You should be able to purchase an x-ring master link for the did 520 vt2 chain. I bought one for the husaberg, it has a ktm part number. Berg chain is did 520 vt2.

Ive got the did xring chain and I don't use the rivet link. You can buy the xring masterlink for it.
