cr250 suspension swap.

Recommended Posts

I did a little searching and came to the conclusion that I should just ask.

I just went from a crf450x (which i hated it was way to heavy for tight woods) to a CR250 (which I love, its like a mountain bike with a motor). Anyway, my brother has a crf250x in the garage. My bike is a little different. its a 2003 cr 250 with 2007 crf250r front shocks/mounts etc and a 2007 crf250r rear swingarm/spring. the frame engine trans everything else is from a 2003 cr.

My question is, is there anyway i can do a straight swap of all or atleast some of the parts from the crf250x forks/ spring? I ride in the woods and so far have put a FWW bigger sprockets gaurds etc on the bike. the only thing I dont like about it is that it has motorcross suspension which feels like a pogo stick over rocks. I was going to just bite the bullet and pay the extra $$$ for an outside company to do my suspension but swapping parts from a crf250x seems like it would be cheaper since its already in the garage. Has anyone done or heard of this? Thanks.
