Stabilizers...Tell me about them!

What are these things? I have heard a lot a about them, and have even seen them. What is the purpose of these and how do they work. Are they worth the hundreds of $$$ for them and do I need one?

i assume you are talking about steering stabilizers/dampers?? i have a gpr on my streetbike and it works great, i definitely need one for my dirtbike just dont want to drop $400+ even though i believe its a must have.

Yea, steering stabilizers. How are these going to help me ride? Why should I pay $400 for one? You say it is a 'must have' ..Why?

susp first, then decide if you need one. they calm the steering down and give you that extra split second to react if the rear end tries to swap, or you catch a tree with a bar. many buy them to help headshake, but IMHO, that is the wrong reason. I have ridden with and without one. Proper susp setup makes a big difference and I only put one back on because I started racing again. When I am pushing the limit of my skills, it is nice to have that extra bit of safety.
