ktm lean pop

Recommended Posts

I have a 08 250 xc-f with a big bore kit on and JD jetting, 180 main, 42 pilot red needle 5th clip postion. So I get a real bad lean pop on decell. Im thinking of changing back to the blue needle in the 4th position and going up on the pilot. What effect does the needle and clip have. just a few weeks back I upped the pilot from from 40 to 42 and had great results started easier and idled better.

Needle and clip have nothng to do with decel popping. It is caused by a very lean condition when the throttle is closed. Air leaks can excaberate the situation. A leak in the exhaust, worn out packing or a open muffler all can contribute. Remember, you have a race bike, not a well muffled woods bike. It is meant to go WOT then hard on the braks, Not coasting.

When jetting, you jet for performance and going fast. Not slowing down.
