Undersprung bike (affects on hill climb?)

Recommended Posts

Technique aside I am wondering what affects my undersprung crf450 will have on steep long hill climbs compared to being properly sprung. It seems really prone to wheelie, would a properly sprung bike help alot? Thanks.

The most obvious effect would be the excessive lowering of the rear of the bike as the suspension compresses. But an MX bike is going to be light in front under climbing conditions, anyway, so I don't think that respringing it will correct much of that particular complaint. It will definitely improve the suspension in general, though.
