2005 KXF250 suspension set up

Recommended Posts

Hi, iv just bought my son a KXF 250. He is 6 foot tall, and 16 stone. I need some advice, on getting the suspension set up for him. I noticed the bike seems to drop slightly, when he sits on it. His mates who are about the same size as him, have bikes and their dont seem to do this. Can someone help me out, on where to start.

Thanks in advance Barry.

Just used the calculater on racetech site, this is what it said.

FRONT FORK SPRINGS

Recommended Fork Spring Rate: 0.487 kg/mm (use closest available)

Stock Fork Spring Rate: 0.45 kg/mm(stock)

REAR SHOCK SPRINGS

Recommended Shock Spring Rate: 5.74 kg/mm (use closest available)

Stock Shock Spring Rate: 5.0 kg/mm (stock)

My son plans on having his first ever go at racing, would you say its worth up rateing the spring now, or should he have a few races first. I can see there are springs rated closer to the recomendations, but seeing as they are only point something and he is a first timer. I was thinkin is it worth just getting the sag set up as close as possible to start with.

I look forward to your replies, Thx BARRY.
