California xr600 (1996) mechanic referral placerville CA AREA (sierra foothills)

Recommended Posts

anyone know of anyone that will work on this for me.

I've exhausted my skills and am ready to pay someone.

I would like to avoid a dealer since they just throw parts at it until

it runs again

I'm in somerset 1/2 way between placerville and jackson

I've narrowed it down to jetting or electrical (Ha Ha)

Its hard to start and wont run for more that 5-10 seconds the ndies.

When it dies its not a cough/sputter and die like fuel/air but just as if you hit the kill switch.

Ive done my forum searches and cleaned carb, adjusted valves, tried a bigger pilot jet but I think its the CDI/stator which is starting to cost a lot of money for not knowing for sure that that will fix it.

Yes I don't mind paying someone, if your in my area

How much do you ride.

I am in Mt. Aukum and am always looking for more people to ride with.

I ride almost every weekend - so there are quite a few I ride by myself.

I have a CR500AF, XR650L (plated), and XR650R.

I know the Elkins-Gold Note area pretty well.

Ok, let me find a manual online and look at a few things and then I can make some recommendations. Of things to check. Do you have a multi meter and do you know how to use one?

I have a ktm 250 as my main bike so I can still ride while the 600 is down

I did trail 25 elkins today and brought my saw for the blowdown but the forest service was out there clearing the trail. And it's 99% clear !

Let's ride. Soon weather calls for rain Wednesday

I can ride during week also (self employed)

Hey!

I think somebody owes me a beer!

There is also a bone-yard for motorcycles in Sacramento. You can pick up parts cheap. I've also saved a buck on Ebay.

(Eldorado doesn't really ride............. he just talks a good game.)

I've got your mulit-meter right here. ;-)
