showa reservoir on wp superadjuster

Any ideas why I can or can not use my stock showa reservoir with my wp shock? It appears to have a more sophisticated compression valve as well as 22 positions as opposed to 7. Does the compression valve really affect damping or just meter flow? My bike is an 86 cr250r.

it should work IMO , it does affect damping but to a lesser degree than the main stack

Stellar Mog, the wp only has 2 washers instead of the shims the showa has. Too bad my track is a frozen quagmire.
