TT500 Crank Case filter size

Has anyone investigate if it is necessary to have such a large crank case filter on the TT500 engines. I have seen V8 engines with the same size.

If you're refering to the crankcase vent that is behind the cyl. & below the carb, there are a couple of options. Some people have uesd a K&N style filter either mounted directly to the crankcase or at the end of a breather hose. On my own dirt trackers and a bike that I trail ride I use an automotive filter that is made to be inside the air filter cover where a breather hose attaches on carburated General Motors v8s. I've used those filters for many years with no problems.
