Spring rates on CRF "X" vs "R"

Recommended Posts

Can anyone confirm if the stock springs on a CRF 450 X are softer than a CRF R?

I bought the X springs a while back for my 05 R, and just bought a 07 R, and would like to swap the springs if they are actually softer, like 5.5 to 5.3 and .46 to .44, but the rear springs don't have the rates on them any more, and the front ones are just silver- so I can't tell w/o a spring compressor.

I got the rear shock and spring off my 07, but wondering if i really need to take the sub frame off and do it again on the 05 if they are the same. I can't find anything on the net.

You can look up spring rates for different models on racetech or mx-tech

MX Tech does not differentiate between the X and the R, However according to MX Tech the rates on a 05 450R are... forks .47 and shock is 5.5 and the 07 450 R is... forks are .46 and shock is 5.5

Sure

On racetech's site

1.) Click on the dirt bike, the first image

2.) Click the link that says "Click Here to See What

Race Tech has for Your Motorcycle"

3.) Browse through the menu to the bike/year you want to look at

They will list fork spring rate in the fork section and if you scroll down you'll see the shock spring rate.
