ktm 125sx sump drain hole stripped !

Recommended Posts

hi, im new to this but think i am posting in the right place ! i recently i got a ktm 125sx and wanted to do an oil change before the weekend. However the left hand bung came out abit then just spins :bonk: i was thinking of helicoiling the hole.. would this be ok to do on the bike if it was leaning over drilling slowly then flush out? and how do i know what thread pitch the bolt is to get the right size helicoil kit? any help with this would be much appreciated! thanks for your time

Aaron.

Buy a new drain plug, then match a helicoil to that. Buy the one with the tap and install tool.

Pack the tap with grease to hold the chips, don't back up until it's all the way done.

Flush it a little and your good to go.

BTW Make sure you drill and tap it STRAIGHT...otherwise the drain plug won't seal.
