put 2009-2012 plastics on a 2005 CRF250R

Recommended Posts

I think the 09 should bolt on pretty straight as they redesigned completely from 10-12 and if you wanted the new looking fender on the 10-12 you would have to do the mod

I made a thread about it, someone has already linked it here, appreciate it.

Sorry I moved my pics in my Photobucket album so the Thread is all messed up

and it wont let me fix it god knows why.

Nevertheless, yes, you can mod your previous gen CRF to the recent one.

I've done only the front end, as the rest looks fine as it is.

Iam sure you can mod the entire plastics, but It'll be a pain,

will cause nothing but headaches and may have mediocre results..

Also I'd have to sacrifice my twin piples, so I said no to that..

If you need any help with that I'll be happy to help you out.

Also what I did afterwards, was installing that Cycra Stadium plate

for the new gen, adds a trick look, and no mods are required for installation.

If your bike is older than 08; its most likely that the upper triple clamp mounts will require some mods.. 08s and up do not need this as the top mounts line right up.. So I suppose you'll have to drill one hole on the top middle.

and some of my bike with those mods ::

Nicely done. I always wondered what the older gen bikes would look like with the newer fender. Gives it a nice updated face lift.

Can someone please explain to me why you would even want to mod new plastics to fit an older bike when you could just buy the right plastics? I put 05 plastics on my 05 and i think it looks great.

For an updated or different look. The same reason people get custom graphics etc. Is it really that hard to understand?

Ashtonmann, i bent up my front fender on my 05 crf250r so i ordered a new UFO 2012 fender and got the front plate at the same time. I had to re-drill the holes much like axel did as well as find a different way to hold the front plate on (the holding points on both the top and bottom triple clamps are in a different spot). I'll see if i can post a pic of the finished product. I think it looks much better.Image0231.jpg

Awesome I love this! I am actually putting a Cycra Stadium Plate on my 05 250F. And will be doing the 10 front fender too. Looks great! Im building an Endurocross race bike!

Quick question, You drilled the holes 2 cm back from the front holes on the 10 fender, can you see the old holes at all? I was looking at your pics and it looks like your Cycra number plate is sticking out a little?

Thanks,

Alan

I just ordered a 2012 fender and number plate for my 07.  Can you post a pic of how you went about securing the front plate since the holding points are in different spots? Thanks

Sorry Honda281, I just saw this. I only attached the front plate by the two bottom holes (I had to drill two matching holes in the front fender) and by the top loop that zip ties around the handlebar.

If you search in Youtube with '2005 crf250r with 2013 plastics' you can see a video of a guy who did a full conversion.

Hey, thanks for the reply.  I ended up just using two zip ties through the two bottom holes and around my triple clamp. I've only ridden the bike once since I put the front end on, but the plate is pretty solid with just that.

I've seen that video - looks pretty cool.  Probably would look better on a 2006-2009 bike that has the dual exhaust

Hows's this look just did it last week, look how I atached the top this on a 06, I used nylon screw and washers to attach the top and nylon screws and bushings to attach to the fender solid as a plastic rock lol, looks good and no metal or weight added , needs a patent haha!!!
