California Sunday - Gold Note/Elkins

Recommended Posts

So,

Work has been brutal the end of this year.

Our shop is swamped, and so far I have not had any time off in December.

Working everyday including weekends.

We are on track to have 2 days off this month - Sunday and Christmas.

So, I have to get a ride in Sunday.

Anyone interested?

The rain today should make for a great ride.

5 corners off of North-South Road at 8:00 am?

It will be my last chance to ride the El Dorado Forest this year.

Will close by Jan. 1st.

Ride it while you have it!

Me and a couple buddies are heading up Sunday to 5 corners if it doesnt snow like hell these next two days. Have you heard anything as far as conditions up there as of today? We should be up there at the staging area around 9:30 on Sunday.

it was cold this morning and raining at my house. I am 10 miles from Gold Note.

They probably got snow at Elkins, but I doubt much as this is a pretty small storm.

I am riding it, snow is not a big deal if it is 6" or less.

We will be there on Sunday around 930. Our group is already fairly sizeable but that kind of place sort of supports bigger groups and we can always break into down into two is necessary. Will be riding a fast pace. If that sounds good, we'll be at the cold spot.

I will be at the cold spot. I will bring the ladies bike (650L) since i did not get

fuel for the fire breathing CR500. With all the porting, shaving and carb work on the

500, it requires 102 octane, and I cannot get it in short order.

If you all are too fast, I will let you know and I will break off. I know the area

good enough I can find my way back.

I may ride up there from my house or bring the truck - depands how cold and icy it is.

Look for a big guy on a 650L - I'm hard to miss.

See you all at 9:30.

Today was some good riding. Very little mud. And a lot of traction... Alittle dust which was suprising, but nothing bad.. All in all a good day. Made it home in one piece which is always a good thing. :bonk:

Was nice meeting and riding with you infamy and El Dorado. We had a good ride, did 57 miles. I'll put up the videos later. I think we must have jumped about 50 logs yesterday.

Eldorado's nickname is Mr. Appendage. He rides that bike like it was an appendage.

That bike is 350 lbs, big & lumbering, that rear tire alone :bonk: scares the heck outta me. His 15 year old son is 210 lbs and parked me in a bush one ride.

He tried to kill me once.

He saved my life once.

Ask him about the Bee Sting.

Edited by superslyko
He will pass the Foxhole Test every time.

I have been crazy at work - so I have a moment to reply.

It was a great ride, I really had a blast.

The group was big, but kept a great pace.

The day could no be any better, though it started a little cold.

That group needs to get together again.

What a blast.

Bummed I have to work the rest of the year - no days off except Christmas.

That branch got me pretty good.

Should have stitched it up, but is finally quit bleeding 1/2 way through the ride.

I had to pull that stick out of my arm, but it was not in too deep.

Bled plenty so it won't get infected.

Pretty sore though, even still today.

Thanks for the riding compliments - the old Ladies bike does OK

for a 330 lb air cooled pig.

Dirk witnessed it climb a pretty good hill at the end of the ride.

That back tire did get hole punched into it.

I had a plug kit - so a trail side fix was no big deal.

Slyko,

The list of people who have either saved your life or aided you in regards to great bodily harm is long and a who's who of thumper talk. Just sayin..........
