1981 Suzuki RM80 Clutch

Recommended Posts

The right side crankcase cover that also houses the clutch was missing 7 of the 9 bolts and would not hold fluid, I went ahead and took the cover off to inspect the insides and everything seems to be alright. Went to the harware store and got my bolts now i'm trying to put it back together and can't get the clutch to work properly. The clutch rod that sticks through the clutch pack with teeth on one side I can get lined up with the clutch release pinion that drops down inside the crankcase cover, once hooked up to the clutch lever cable the bike will cycle through the gears with or without the help of the clutch being disengaged. I'm not sure whats going on but have heard this can be tricky to get back together. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

if i remember correctly, you should rotate clutch actuator shaft back n forth and it should seat itself. do this with the clutch arm off the rod and reinstall lever so you get full throw of clutch. May take a try or two
