Is a 4' axle too narrow for a trailer?

Recommended Posts

I'm planning to build a single rail trailer. I have a perfect 4' axle laying around, but I want to make sure it isn't too narrow. Does anyone have a similar setup? How does it ride on the highway? Does it get wobbly, or does it track straight?

Thanks!

For a single rail trailer, a 4' axle should be about perfect.

Most wobbling is caused by sloppy bushings, axle not true to tongue, mismatched or damaged tires or misbalancing of load.
