Front Brakes - How to make more responsive

Recommended Posts

01 KX 250 - Stock

I'd like my front brakes to be a bit more responsive & slow me down a bit faster..

How do I go about doing this?

cheers

To improve lever feel:

Flush with fresh fluid.

Replace the hose with a reinforces hose.

To reduce lever effort:

Sand glaze off pads.

Install new more aggressive pads, EBC sells pads with several different lining materials.

Oversize pads may be available.

Install a larger rotor for more brake torque.

Replace the caliper with a unit that has more piston area.

Replace master cylinder with a unit that has a smaller bore.

This should be in the Kaw 2 stroke forum, it's been asked 100 times.

Anyway, to answer your question, those years KX's had crappy front brakes. You can install a master cylinder from a 04+ KX/KXF and it will fix your spongy brakes.

I dont sell garbage, PM me if you are interested or just check out my ads in the classfieds. BTW I own 5 out of the top ten most viewed ads on thumpertalk. lmao

I always swapped out to a late model CR mastercylinder on my Kawis for improved leverage ratio and better feel.

We swapped a 09 KXF brake and hose assy onto a 03 KX250 with great results.

Ditto the late model master cylinder feel improvements. Did this on my 2k model with awesome results...almost Brembo like...ha. Currently sourcing parts to do it on the old 96er.
