Stuck Bolt

Recommended Posts

Howdy-

I'm in need of some help. I'm replacing my sprockets and chain, but for the life of me, I cant budge the drive Sprocket bolt.http://www.thumpertalk.com/forum/images/smilies/banghead.gif I have the appropriate breaker bar, put the bike in gear, hold the rear brake, and it still will not move. I'm afraid I'm gonna mess up the bike, snap the breaker bar, and/or hurt myself.

Could it be frozen on?...Its been in the 20s here.

Any tips on how to loosen this thing?

Thanks!

cures to stuck bolts: impact wrench, Pb spray (over night), heat, tap with hammer. And for your case get a buddy to sit on the bike while its pushed against a wall.

Some front sprockets have a locking tab on them. Use a punch and hammer and straighten the locking tab. Once you have the new sprocket and nut then fold the locking tab back over.
