Flame from the exhaust 2007 RMZ 450

Recommended Posts

I just purchased a 2007 RMZ 450, have not taken it for a ride yet, but when I REV and shut the throttle off it will flame from the muffler.

The bike is in good order, what does this indicate about the jetting, I know the previous owner had a JD jetting kit in the bike a took out before I purchased it and now has the stock jetting.

It means 1. you dont have a spark arrestor :bonk: and 2. its probably fine. Its going to fire the spark plug on the exhaust stroke so its igniting the un-burnt fuel in the exhaust as it gets pushed back. This might mean its too rich on the pilot BUT when you have high cylinder pressure and the throttle shut fuel will get sucked through no matter what you do.

How high are you revving it and is the choke on when you do this?
