Rebuild questions

Recommended Posts

I'm currently trying to revive my 2005 crf after it died at the track. I have concluded that it is the valves being way too tight. So I'm going to replace the old with new valves, my first question is it possible to know the new shim sizes I will need with new valves (both intake and exhaust) before valve instillation? Also I'm having a hard time measuring the exhaust clearance because the rocker arm freely "rocks" up, is that normal? I believe I have tdc however when I put the cam chain back on the cam I didn't pay attention to the flywheel position, is that an issue? Thank you if someone could answer these for me:D

just align the marks on the crankcase under the cover on the right.. and yes its normal for the rocker arms to have some movement.. if there wasnt anymovement then you would be on the wrong stroke.. and the shims should just have numbers on them.. if not just measure them
