'04 250 Transmission input shaft bearing?

Recommended Posts

I split my cases today on my 2004 250 to replace the crank and main bearings. Looking around the input shaft bearing in the left side case seems to be a little rough. I figure that I should just replace it while I'm in there.

Do I need an actual bearing puller to get this out since there's no way to press it out from the outside? Any homemade tools that will work, or should I just drop it off at the dealer for them to replace it quick?

You should use a blind bearing puller, RockeyMountainMC sells a decent one fairly cheap. If you don't want to get one let your dealer do it.

sometimes you can get lucky and put it in the oven with the bearing facing down and it will just magically fallout, but this is very rare. I would suggest the blind bearing puller, or have your dealer do it as stated above. only pay to have it taken out, cause shop work is redick, and hey they might even do it for free, I would go the dealership route first.
