Paddle Tire???

Recommended Posts

I have a 2011 Suzuki RMZ 450 that is bone stock other than a full Stainless Steel Yoshimura exhaust system and I have never been to the dunes but finally found someone to go with. How many paddles (6,8,10,12) should I run? What should I do for mods to the bike? How should the suspension bet adjusted? Do I need to buy a new front tire or can I run the knobby? I've been told to pull the mud flap so it won't get ripped off by the paddles? Should I run an 18" wheel or is the stock 19" just fine? Gearing?

when i put a paddle on my 05 RMZ i ran an 8 paddle, in the stock 19 inch rim. i left all my suspension setting where they were, but iv been told people usually run there stuff a bit stiffer in the sand.

I ran stock gearing with no problems, I have only used a knobby in the front and havent had anything bad happen that wasnt totally my fault (rider error:bonk:).

you will want to remove the mud flap though, the paddle clears it when rolling forward but when i was unloading the bike it got sucked up and cracked when rolling the bike backwards :bonk:

hope that helps, riding this bike with a paddle for the first time was such an AWSOME experience. you get traction and acceleration as though you were running a fresh knobby on asphault haha:banana:

I run everything stock on my 11 rmz with an 8 cup. I ride glamis and Gordon's allllllll the time. I put the rich plug in because your on the gas a lot. Take that mud flap off and if you don't have an o ring chain, the chain will stretch faster. Don't worry so much about clickers. Running a paddle is sooo cool, wheelies for days!!!
