I use to sell tanks and they all weigh about the same, about 4 lbs as best I remember.

Thanks, looking for an accurate weight. I have some Clarke tanks and they vary from just over 2lbs. to around 4lbs. as you quoted. Wondering what the Honda CRF230 tank weighs compared to those.

Brand new bare tank with petcock mounted; no brackets, no cap.

Fits '03 - '07

The tank was changed in '08 to a smaller capacity, so it could possibly weigh less. Capacity changed from 2.2 gal to 1.8 or 1.9.

the smaller capacity could be a result of thicker epa legal plasctic, so it could weigh more?

Wow, 5lb. 6.8oz bare without the shrouds, fairly heavy. Factory tanks seem to weigh more than the aftermarket Clarke type tanks when the sizes are similar. Thanks now just need to see what the newer tank weight is to compare.

I read the 1.9gal. amount for the newer tank and while browsing saw the earlier 2.2gal. listing.
