From CRF250 to CR250?

Recommended Posts

Hi there. I have both a 2005 CR250R and a 2008 CRF250R. The 2008 CRF has a Factory Connection suspension (both front and back) setup and valved for me (140lbs beginner rider). Since I'm planning on getting rid of it, I was wondering if it would be beneficial for me to swap both suspension. Or is the 3rd gen frame (that and the steering dampener) and engines too different for the valving and spring rate to work properly?

Thank you

if you really like the 08 suspension I would put it on the 05 but check the offsets are the same

the fork work similar on this 2 bike but the shock.......i think the cr need a soft shock then the crf , less torque in slow corner and more hp but different engine response.

make a riding test if you can

Here is what Race Tech has to say about the recommended settings for me:

2005 CR250R

FRONT FORK SPRINGS

Recommended Fork Spring Rate: 0.419 kg/mm (use closest available)

Stock Fork Spring Rate: 0.43 kg/mm(stock)

Mine: 0.43kg/mm

REAR SHOCK SPRINGS

Recommended Shock Spring Rate: 4.964 kg/mm (use closest available)

Stock Shock Spring Rate: 5.0 kg/mm (stock)

Mine: 4.7kg/mm

I think I will email Factory connection with the details and see what they think.

check your sags as often springs are not exactly what they say anyway, sags will tell the whole story.
