Recommended Posts

What size is the nut on the shock shaft on the newer RMZ450 shock shaft????????,I think its a 16x1.25 thread and a 24mm wrench fits, but I can't find a replacement nut in that size,I would like to have replacent nuts and a tap and die in that size but can't seem to find them.:bonk::smirk:

Do yourself a favor and hit sears and get a thread pitch gauge. The bigger tap and die sets come with them, but they aren't expensive alone and it'll save the guess work.

The nut is a 16 X 1.25 pitch and good luck finding them. I have the tap & die for it but have not had any luck finding the nuts. Even DaveJ hasn't been able to find them yet as far as I know. I think he actually had some made. For some reason the nuts on these new RMZ's are the hardest ones getting off without ruining the shaft & nut threads.....

Finding stuff like this is a pain in the ass...but some how I do it..

This place will have it, but it'll take a phone call no doubt because the website sucks ass.

Good finds! The one place lists the nut as a clutch nut-probably for a clutch basket. I spent alot of time deburring the peening and the shaft end. I also put a little heat to it with a plastic welder and it came off OK. The peening is pretty bad and it looked like there was thread lock. I havea kit coming from Smart Performance, so I may replace it when I do the kit. Don't think I'd trust the nut a second time around.
