TT-R 125 Mods

Recommended Posts

Well there is always the airbox mod, & there are a couple of ways of moddifing the stock exhaust. Of course once these are done you would want to re-jet the carb. Even without doing anything to the airbox or exhaust most bikes can benefit from changing the stock pilot jet from 15 to 17.5 as the TT-R is jetted quite lean from the factory. This will help with the starting, idle, & warm up issues that a lot of people complain about. Removing the snorkel, cutting open the top of the airbox, and removing the screen seems to be first on the list, then re-jetting the pilot jet to 17.5 and the main to 110. Of course this depends on altitude and weather, but this seems to be a good place to start. Jets can be found here http://www.jetsrus.com/a_jet_kit_dirt/yamaha_125_TTR125L_2000-2009.htm

These little bikes are massed produced so generally where the intake meets up with the head can always use some cleaning up with a little port matching. I've seen some that have had about an 1/8th of an inch overlap. Also opening up the hole in the airfilter so it's even with the filter itself will let in a little more air.
