Supercross: KTM's Ken Roczen Breaks Arm

2012 AMA Supercross

The Red Bull KTM team will be lacking an AMA Supercross rider in the Lites class for 2012 - Ken Roczen.

This news arrives after the 17-year-old German broke his left arm following a crash during practice at the KTM test track in Corona, Calif., Christmas Day.

Following the supercross crash, Roczen, who pilots the No. 194 KTM SX-F 250, was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment of the injury.

Red Bull KTM says: "With the full support of the Red Bull/KTM Factory Team, Roczen is expected to make a full and speedy recovery in time for the commencement of the 2012 Supercross Lites East Championship Series."

Roczen, one of three Red Bull KTM racers for 2012 with Ryan Dungey and Marvin Musquin, raced a few stateside AMA Supercross Lites races in the 2011 season following his signing with the Austrian KTM manufacturer, but it was in the FIM Motocross MX2 season where he outperformed everyone.

While competing on the KTM SX-F 250 in the MX2 class, Roczen won 19 race wins, giving KTM its fourth consecutive MX2 Title in 2011, following Marvin Musquin in 2009 and 2010, and Tyla Rattray in 2008.

Born in 1994, he first entered the MX racing record book in Germany when he won the German Outdoor Motocross Junior competition in 2000 and 2001.

Roczen won the ADAC MX Junior Cup in 2006 and was second in the Junior Worlds in the same year. One year later he claimed the Junior World championship title and was firmly on the radar of the talent spotters for senior competition.

"Kenny" as he is affectionately known at home in Germany went on to capture the Supercross title in Dortmund Germany in 2009 and earned the title of "Prince of Dortmund."

Even racing only part of the season because of the age limit restriction in 2009, he still finished in fifth place.

In 2010, he took second in the MX2 World Championship, before winning the series in 2011.

I don't think so. Roczen said in a tweet that now maybe KTM will have the east AND west coast lites championships.

I would think with Hansen and Tickle both moving onto the 450 class, Pro Circuit would want a 250cc "veteran" on both coast's.... There is always Ratray, but he's not exactly a supercross "specialist" IMO.
