steering damper for a 98 cr250...

Recommended Posts

Just picked up a gen 1 CR500AF conversion(98 cr250 chassis). The front end is a lot more twitchy compared to my 92 500 stellie. Looking into putting a steering damper on it.

I've never put one on a dirt bike before.

Looking for recommendations. I like the WER design. Scotts? GPR?

Any feedback would be great.

I looked into it for my '01. The best way to set it up was a GPR Post and Scotts mount. BPR and Applied also make full bar clamp/mount kits.

have you set the sag yet? using the proper springs? that makes a huge difference in stability.

I'd check your suspension sag and placement of the forks in relation to the clamps. Every 1st gen I have rode has been very stable. That said a damper is a great upgrade. I'd buy the frame clamp and kit as that year has a goofy shape at the head tube. The Scotts clamp I had was very high quality and their customer service has been nothing short of amazing. They are the only dampers I have used so I can't comment on the others.

Anyone try the WER mount? I like were it mounts out of the way on the lower triple clamp.

They all seem to be about the same price.

Best place to buy one?
