2005 ssr no spark

Recommended Posts

just picked up a 2005 ssr for a steal, only problem is i have no spark. now i know it can be a number of things (coil, stator, cdi, ect..) all of wich i am ok with as they are not terribly expensive. im just wondering how to test them to see what is at fault (yes i have looked at the tbolt write-ups, not decriptive for this guy) i have access to a multimeter and test light.

attatched are pictures of my cdi, coil and stator if it helps any.

The best advice would be to take look at THIS KIT. Everything is compatible and it is reasonably priced for a complete system. I've used this one a few bikes as a replacement system rather than go bonkers trying to mix-n-match different components. You will need a flywheel puller tool (HERE) to remove the old flywheel.

From the looks of it we have the same bike,I put my lifan in it and had to have the shop wire it cuz the lifan had no harness,it was direct/hard wired, and the ssr had the type of wiring like yours,I broke my stator(lifan)and when I got the new one on all the wires were different colors than the original,so after hrs. of f'n around I said f it and took it in,$240 later it works great, but I coulda bought a whole lifan w/ complete wiring for that much.S#!t I coulda bought a whole used good condish pitbike for $300!:bonk:

Yeah best bet is get a prewired kit,unless your a decent pitbike mechanic.Thought I was,but I'm not.
