OEM headlight differences

Recommended Posts

Hi,

i'm italian and i often read this forum.

I've a question about the oem headlight unit of the different years of crf-x.

Here in italy ther's HM-Moto that import honda offroad bikes, but they make always a change at bikes! One example is the electrical wire harness!

About the headlight can you confirm me that also in USA there is differences between '05-'07 visor and '08-'12 visor??

here in italt this is the '05-'07 headlight

and this is the '08-'12 one

so the '08-'12 it's too smaal than the oldest and have a new design.

But another differences i've noted it's about the headlight unit, not the plastic.

Here is two photo about mine oem '06 headlight

The inner headlight i think it' s not the same in USA and EU '05-'07 crf-x !!

I think that this is the OEM inner headligt for the '05-'07

mine headlight mount a lamp like this

but i think you had never seen one !!

Let me know what do you think about and sorry for my poor english.

:bonk::thumbsup:

Your english is fine.

I'm not much help though, I thought all of the US Xs had same head lamp assy. Mine came with a high low beam bulb but only low beam is wired. We don't have a switch of any kind also. In the US the bike is not legal for road use.

i have the aus spec CRF 08 model

i received another headlight in my spares kit , i there any difference between the 2 headlights ?

I have the spare headlight as well, only difference I can spot is the globe and reflector pattern. It's still a 12v/35W bulb.

I do know that the plastic is different between the 2 different styles but the inner light assembly is the same and interchangable as I have done this swap in the past. I believe our U.S. models are the same as the Euro models except that our's do not have 3 wires allowing the high/low beam operation.

Inners headlights were different in Europe, with kind of vertical strippes due to Euro rules, watch oldest cars here in Europe, same reason. That's why for Hm, in order to license plate X models, they had to replace Japanese inner, now it's over and reason why we have Japan stock inner, now....same with kick stand, it's mandatory to have a kick stand with automatic back up another reason to have with each brand new bikes, another kick stand...
