Another Rebound Question

I've been riding bikes for year but please help me here ,,,,,.

Compression , i understand , ie what feels to hard and what feels to soft . But with rebound I have no idea if i'm to fast or slow ,what should i be looking to achieve with rebound or what should a correct rebound set up feel like ?
