Really stupid basic fork question.

Recommended Posts

how do i let the air out of my forks? is it the big bolt near the clickers on top. i blew out a set of seals the other week and think it was because i did not let the air out of my forks since i got them done. do i just unscrew them and let the air out? thanks, a basic thing i was too stupid to do :bonk:

Its the little set screw type thing on the fork cap on top. Down below the big hex head. Just unscrew (dont lose it, it will go flying sometimes), then put it back in after the pressure is equal.

Make sure your front tire is raised off the ground when you open the bleeder, you want to bleed them with the forks at full extension.

The pressure built up inside the fork isnt what blows the seal. Its dirt, damage from a nick in the tube or bad bushings.

probably dirt from when i crashed and got a concussion thats when they started leaking. but you dont think the air could blow them out? iv never let the air out of them, only once when i got my forks done the mechanic did that
