if the battery is completly dry will i stil have lights ?

i have a strange new problem , whan the battery is full , evrything is working but after a short ride the battery drys like there is no charge but i also dont have lights any more.

why is thet if the engine is stil running?

as i understand you dont need the battery in this bike to run the front and rear lights.

You should maybe still have lights but I suspect your problem is either the Regulator/Rectifier is stuffed or the Regulator and Reg/Rec are both stuffed..,Spent weeks trying to work out why my XR/XL600 hybrids headlight and tailight wouldn't work,,It's wired the same as an XL500 right down to the battery except mines a 12volt system,The cause was both reg/rec and reg were no good,,Probably explain your boiling/discharged battery as well..,You can get used ones off Ebay pretty cheap,,try one if it fixes it all the better,,if it doesn't try the other,,Do the Reg/Rec first,,make sure you get the 6 volt one to match the bike,
