Mix Ratio? Help?

Recommended Posts

Hey, I just got a KX250 today. Im new to the two strokes, So I'm not sure what ratio to mix it at. The prev. owner said to mix it at 47:1 because the new piston has not even been broken in yet. Is this true? If so, what type of oil? Synthetic?

I keep seeing that a good ratio is 32:1 or 50:1. but I don't know which one to go with and what type of oil. Especially with this new piston, if that even matters at all.

If anyone can help me, it would be a huge help.

Mix ratios and oils are a personal preference.. Everyone seems to have a different take on whats best. My advice is to find a good brand name 2T oil that is readily available in your area and mix @ 40:1.

ratio choice should be based on riding styles. the harder you ride the more oil needed. you could just mix 32:1 and jet accordingly, that seems to be the norm

Agreed. 32 or 40. Pretty hard to seize an engine with too much oil. You just need to jet accordingly, like stated above.
