Do any of the fork tube coatings work for plushness?

Recommended Posts

I have these old 98 style conventional forks I use that came on the 96- 98 RM's. I like them alot because they make a flex point to soften the ride on a CRF frame but the newer fork technology on the newer upside downs seem to be more plush but also USD are more rigid.

Is there a way to make the older Showa conventional 49mm ride thru the stroke plusher besides valving changes. Thanks!

the 98 was meant to be the plushest forks ever , if they are not plush look at the springs ( for your weight) bushes in good order , oil fresh , if that's not enough then it's valving

There is nothing wrong with the fork, the newer UDS from about 04 on seem to slide easier through the seal area, USD have come a long long way since 89 but they do not flex like conventionals. These foks really help the stiff feel of the newer frames.

I think you need to pull them down and spec em out. See what the preload is and make sur the tubes are straight.
