I have a Hardline Tach/Hour meter. Installed it, yes correctly, but the RPM reads around 980 and I know that can't be right....It is suppose to read between 1800 and 2000....Bad meter or should I double my reading because it is a 4 stroke? Anyone?

Usually the meters have a two or a fourstroke setting, but we also run a wasted spark ignition to so it shouldnt matter.

Check the directions of the meter. At 980 youre exactly half of what its probably idling at.

My RPM feature only worked correctly a few times on mine. I think mine was double; hard to remember, it passed away a year ago and I didn't bother buying one with that feature. It always counted the hours correct, though.

Did you make sure to wrap it correctly.?

yes...tightly three times around coil wire right after the yellow spark plug cap...
