Hi Guys, new to the forum but new to Motard all together. I have purchased a 06 DRZ 400 SM and it has already had the Yoshi pipe with hearder installed. It doesn't have the 3x3 air box mod done and I am assuming the jets haven't been done. Can someone tell me what i need to do to get the proper jets and settings for the pipe I have. Is this something you can tell the bike shop or is it a bit more involved than this.

I would like to do the 3x3 mod soon but makes no sense without having the proper jets.

Also with the 3x3 mod does it have to be this size or can it be bigger....bigger is better they tell me???

Anyway look forward to any response

Doing the 3x3 mod without changing your jetting will cause your engine to run lean.....And yes, the JD jet kit is the recommended kit for your bike...JD005..

Jetting is changed to suit different engine modifications you do to your bike...

When you introduce more air via the 3x3 mod you need to give it more fuel...

And it is great to see another Aussie on the the forum.....:bonk::smirk:

you need to figure your elevation, avg temp and all mods and go to the jetting forum for exact specs. Eddie can fix you up. The numbers he gave me were spot on. I did a Yosh Rs2, 3x3 and he told me the exact jets to use it and it was right the first time. If you are going to jet, get the allen screws from the ThumperTalk store as the phillips in your orig carb are as soft as butter and will likely strip.

Serch ""BBB rejets with..." and you can bring up Bayou Bike Bruiser's how to thread or I believe it is a sticky now. he walks you through step by step.

For near sea level with open pipe and 3x3 mod the following jetting is recommended...

#160 main jet

jd blue needle

clip 4

22.5 pilot jet with extended screw or 25 pilot jet with stock screw

2.75 turns
