Running intakes loose?

Recommended Posts

Hello All,

Had a head rebuild zero out on me on the left intake after 60 hours.

I went from a 200 to a 180 shim on the left intake, and it took my clearance up to .0009 in. This is a little out of the .0006 +- .0001 spec.

Is that TOO far loose?

I'm thinking about going to the 185 shim to tighten it up a bit.

I appreciate any advice.

Thanks!

JC

i would shim it to spec , your intake is too loose

keep checking the clearances to make sure you dont have issues

+1 on the keep checking. I have never seen a valve loose its clearance and there is not something wrong.

Even the steel valves will wear. The difference is that the wear is not accelerated like the Ti valves once the coating is gone.

Just drop in a 1.85mm and go ride.
