Steering Issues

Recommended Posts

I have a 2007 CRF150R. Over the last couple of weeks I've notices that the steering is a little funny a low speeds.

When you're actually turning the handlebars rather than cornering.

It feels a little stiff when turned initial while moving. When I turn it while stationary if seems to move ok, no grinding feeling/sounds.

The only recent work I did was to remove the carb to clean and rejet. No wrecks or crashes. It was out in a couple of rain showers.

Anybody got an ideas on a possible cause?

Thanks

Pull your headset apart and check your steering stem bearings. If all else has not been changed, I bet youll find what your looking for

I agree. Be prepared to replace the steering stem bearings. It's been my experience that the top bearing will fail before the bottom.

I Third that!! Most likely the bearing and the race is bad. Both are replaced as a unit. When washing your bike you should avoid getting water in this area. I usually put Duct tape around the steering head so water doesn't get in there while washing.
