Lifting the shift lever on a KLX 400

Recommended Posts

I am new to dirt riding and recently bought a pair of riding boots that restrict my ability to flex my ankle (I am told that this is the reason that they are purchased). The front sprocket cover limits the amount of adjustment that I can make so that I can get my boot under the lever. I have been told to take the front sprocket cover off - and some tell me to get a different lever.

Does anyone have experience with this problem and if so will you share your solution. Thanks

...and what a great machine that thing is...

I vote for the 1" longer lever. I kept missing shifts with the stocker. With the longer lever, problem solved.

Thanks for the advice - can I get one of these at any Kawasaki shop or are they special items? I see the MSR but don't know what that is.

Guys who come from street bikes typically sit too far back on the bike. Sit against the tank, then your toes will be pointed down & lift your foot to upshift.
